I’m tired y’all.
Work, dialysis four times a week, volunteering and maintaining a 2.5 acre rental property while still trying to enjoy whatever time I have left is exhausting. It’s even more difficult doing all of this on your own.
I don't just want that call, I NEED that call for a new kidney. I’ve spent 20 of my 47 years on this planet requiring a machine to keep me alive. I might make it look easy at times but my mask is slipping because it’s getting harder and harder to keep doing everything necessary for me to survive.
To ensure I am financially prepared for when that glorious call comes, I continue to fundraise since my insurance does not cover all of my medical expenses and I’m usually paying out $1300 or more each month just for dialysis.
Unfortunately, transplants aren’t free and being single means I’m held to a different standard than many patients. I have to prove my financial worth in order to remain eligible for a life-saving surgery, how crazy is that?!
